Dead Heading
« on: May 26, 2004, 15:29:04 »
Does deadheading work for all flowering plants?  My specific query is for Verbascums and Veronicas.  If I cut the flower stems off as the flowers fade will they grow more?   ???

no, some flowers don't set seed so dead-heading is irrelevant (surfinias for example). However, i cut my verbascums and delphs back after flowering and they usually come again but often smaller branching stems rather than a large main stem. Veronicas also keep coming with regular deadheading - new flowers appear at the sides of the old flowering stem.
