Wahay!!!!!
Have finally started on my lottie for this year. For those of you that don't know, I got burnt last year in a house fire & have not been allowed near my lottie whilst I healed. My burns specialist has had me on a strick "keep clean" regime & totally forbade me to go near the plot until he was happy my new skin on my face, neck & hands had set enough. I've still got to be careful with my skin so have taken to wearing gloves on my hands and carrying wet wipes to quickly swish over my face etc.
So last weekend I was like a kid let loose in a candy store. Dad & I (although mainly Dad) did a lot of heavy work involving the rotovator, strimmer and lawn mower. Dad got a good portion of the plot ready for cultivation whilst I attacked the plot lawn. Since then I've been down several times and got my beds in position & after finishing nightshift yesterday went down and did another hour and half before heading to bed. The greenhouse is currently full to overflowing of freshly sown seeds and seedlings & my seed potatoes are currently waiting for me at the post office 'cos they tried to deliver them whilst I was away in the land of nod.
Surprisingly (to me anyway) despite not being able to do any preparation on the plot over winter it wasn't as bad as I expected and I actually feel quite refreshed and ready to tackle it, bindweed including. I found myself today with a small audience curious to know what I was doing. Cos I do square foot gardening I spent the time this morning tying baler band around my bed edges to mark out the square foot spaces. The other advantage is that next year I just need to pick up the bed frames & move them to their new home. There is still a lot of work to do but I can barely wait for next week 'cos then I'll be off down again, complete with flask and sandwiches.
I'll try and get some piccies posted of the plot as things progress but first I need to find where the camera got stored after last year's events.
