As one who has suffered at the hands of councils selling off Allotment land, I have gladly signed.

I love e-petitions. Only "New" Labour could have thought up a new way to ignore us. Signed though...

Done. Close to my heart this one. After a long wait, got my lottie/weed patch in May. It's now cleared, beds full and looks a picture.
We've now been told the council want the land for another purpose. It backs on to the local cemetery and they've run out of space, they could take the site over next year. I do understand but they are not offering alternative sites. Another one bites the dust. I'm going to opt for cremation, knowing my luck I'd end up with the only self seeding Brussels sprouts framing my head stone! :(

just got this email in my inbox
You recently signed a petition asking the Prime Minister to "provide more
land for allotments for people to grow their own vegetables."
The Prime Minister's Office has responded to that petition and you can view
it here:

petitions you signed, please email optout@petitions.pm.gov.uk

Done.... ;D
However, I shall warn you that I have signed a few e-petitions such as this, and the only response from the government is to detail explicitly how the current legislation stands regarding the issue in question.
Its irritated me so much that I wrote an email to the e-petitions team voicing my discontent. No doubt, I shall get some well-scripted diatribe in response. ::)
Having already signed a similar petition regarding the provision of allotments, and received a government response, it will be interesting to see if the 2 responses are identical.....I'm starting to think they just look up the legislation and use it as a valid response. >:(
Lets wait and see.
(if you wish, I can forward you a copy of the other allotment petition and its response...pm me, or ask me to post it here)
