I feel really bad either way!!!!
I left a watering can full of water in the greenhouse at the weekend (I don't usually do this but had read somewhere that plants prefer water at room temprature so thought I would give it a go).
I started watering my seedlings yesterday and was hit by an extremely unpleasant smell. I initially thought it was due to a noctural visit from one of the neighbourhood cats (leaving a small present as they often do) but then realised that the nozzle of the watering can was blocked.
After tipping the water away and shaking the watering can hard (trying not to retch at the same time!!) I found a very young dead bird - it must have accessed the greenhouse through the skylight and either fallen into the watering can (??) or been trying to get a drink.
I will certainly be more careful in future.
