Twine tidy
« on: May 16, 2004, 17:31:01 »
Fed up with skeins of twine unwinding in my bag and having to pull out yards of the stuff before I found its origins, I have discovered that margarine tubs of the oblong-ish variety make good waterproof string holders.

Make a hole about 2.5cm (1") in from the rim and about halfway down from the top. I used small scissors to start the hole and rounded it off using a heated metal skewer.

Put the twine in the tub and thread the end through the hole in the lid.  Put the lid back on the tub and there you have it!  Tidy string!  But beware - you can't see when you nearing the end of the pack....

What a good idea AC ;D  My twine is forever getting into a mess no matter how hard I try to keep it tidy.  No more knotted twine from now on :D
Happy gardening all...........Pat

I do much the same thing but use a glass jar that has 'shaker' holes in the lid. Just make sure you find the middle of the roll, not the outer end.
