Snow by Friday?
« on: April 17, 2007, 15:17:15 »
What's all this then?

Turn me back for five minutes, plan my three day weekend down the plot to find that that great intellectual might known as The Star* has proclaimed that snow is due on Friday!

*No - I did not buy it, I have more than enough newspaper for the compost bin/bottom of the cat litter tray....

How can this be?!   :o :o ;D

It's blatantly UNTRUE Bennets  >:(

The Star really annoys me. They pay MILLIONS for scoops like these by bribing meteorologists across the entire world to frighten gardeners and up the sales of the newspaper.

WRITE TO THE LOCAL COUNCIL AND COMPLAIN! ;)

I think the people of Lerwick are the unlucky recipients of the forecast snow.  Anyone from Lerwick??   ???
Thank you to all who donated to the Moonlight Half Marathon Walk in aid of St Catherine's Hospice - my mum and I raised just over £300!!!    ............     Thanks!  :-)

from metcheck...

During the middle part of the week, low pressure rattles across Northern areas bringing heavy rain, but as the low pushes across to Scandinavia the wake will drag in colder air will push South.

The coldest of the weather will be restricted to the East at the end of the week where ground frosts are likely, perhaps sleet and snow showers across mountains in Scotland too for a time.

Now we must all apologise to the Star as they ARE a quality outfit after all (!!)
Best laid plans and all that

Doesn't look like we are expecting frosts in the South West! (from metoffice)
Weather forecast: South West England
Days 6 to 15
UK Outlook for Thursday 26 Apr 2007 to Saturday 5 May 2007:
Generally unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain for all parts of the UK. The rain and showers will be interspersed with some drier spells, and it looks as though the first two days will be dry in the southeast, but with unsettled weather spreading from the northwest over the weekend. Temperatures will be above normal in most parts and it may become warm in the southeast. The first week of May will see the unsettled weather continuing with further rain for most parts, but amounts will be mostly small away from the northwest, and there is a chance of a longer drier interlude in the south around the middle of the week. Temperatures will be mostly nearer normal but it will again be rather warm in any sunnier interludes.
