Broken greenhouse
« on: March 08, 2007, 13:54:02 »
My lovely greenhouse was trashed in the strong winds we had earlier in the year.  I lost about half of the glass.   :'(

Can someone explain to me the difference between using horticultural glass and 4mm glass - is it the same?

Also, can I mix glass and perspex/plexiglass with glass if I decide to replace the broken glass with that?

Thanks

Well the obvious difference is thickness. The 4mm is generally used in domestic windows and is of a better quality making it more expensive.

There is no reason why you cant! but I wouldnt mix them in the same panel because the plastic types are more flexible than glass this flexing may loosen the more rigid glass.

Regarding costs;  the plastic alternatives work out more expensive and do not last as long!
