I still seem to have lost the option to post photos. :(

Also, my picture profile is missing from some of my posts.

The photo posting issue this afternoon has been a sign of a problem on the old server, I have tried to rectify it, but couldn't - once I'm happy with all my test on this new server, I shall re-enable it.

My main concern is that no posts / pictures are lost!

Try in the morning, it will either be all OK, or I'll be at the end of my teather.

Not sure if this has anything to do with the new server but I can't edit my previous posts. There's one I made about the sweet potatoes and I wanted to update some info but I can't see the edit button now. It's there until someone posts after me, then it dissapears.

Leonnie,

I changed that a month or so ago, there is a grace edditing period, and then the post is locked.

It is to prevent whole posts being changed to remove the original meaning, which can then make posts in the future make no sense!

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks Dan.  I've found the pages loading very slowly of late, but it's much improved now.  :)

Thanks Dan.

Last night it was telling me I was not authorised to read posts on threads if they were threads I hadn't previously looked at.  I felt like I must have been really naughty!!  Presumably it was the server?  I haven't upset people have I??? :-[

tulippa,

That was part of the move from the old server to the new, it should be OK now.

I assume that was the reason the site wasn't working properly last night. It all seems to be running more smoothly now.

Robert,

The old server has been straining for a couple of months now, and I've been searching for an affordable solution.

We are now on a server in Manchester, so all the data has less distance to travel to the UK (the old server was in the States, it is much cheaper to host over the pond), and the new server is more powerfull in every way.

There may be a few hiccups over the next week or so while I tweak things, but they have been running in parallel for a week now, so hopfully most things are sorted.

Cheers

Dan

Much faster today.  Thank you Dan - it all seems very complicated - I'm just really grateful that you are willing to do it for us all.

I'm getting  the 'site unavailable' too - but it clears quite quickly.

However I do have a problem with the Search facility - I just get a blank page after clicking on the search button.

I've tweaked the server, hopefully the site will no longer be unavailable.

I'll look into the search!

Cheers
