Looks like I'm the nearest to you 20 miles down the A6 in Buxton.

Welcome to the site

According to google there are 40 allotment sites in Manchester and quite a few in your area. I would go to your local council offices and ask or visit your nearest allotment and just ask someone who's digging!

I have an allotment in north Manchester, Highfield Road, Prestwich to be exact at the side of the Metrolink tramway- there are 26 plots here including a couple where the main activity is pigeon keeping/racing.
This is my second year on the plot.

Ooh, hello! Pretty close by, then. (We're the Longford Park end of Chorlton..)

For what it's worth, I checked with the Scott Avenue site - off Oswald Road - and they said there was a 5 year waiting list. Over Nell Lane way the allotments have lots of vacancies, but it's a bit far for me to get to with not driving.. But I didn't realise there was one over Seymour Grove way, hrm..!

I decided the best bet was to get rid of the front lawn and cover it with potatoes instead.. ;)

There isn't a long list at our allotments, but they don't let Chorltonites in  :P

Me too, have only had the plot since October so am still new to all this.
Have got the potatoes chitting and bought loads of seeds and am getting underway with all those.
Roll on the better weather.

I'm a bad, bad person. :(

I realised your allotments would be a quick hop on the number 15 bus, so I'm meeting Sue on Friday to have a look round.. Apologies for the infringement! (Though it's nice knowing there's a few young ladies there with lotties, and not just grumpy old men! ;)

I have enough to take on with my own garden, really, but it's just too tempting..

Erk. We are now the proud owners of lot 16, the one with the pampas-grass-of-doom. :D

Ta for the recommendation - very excited now!
