Thought that this might interest everyone.  The BBC "Farming Today" program reported the following (extracted from BBC website) ...

Farming Today this morning, Miriam O’Reilly discovers that the rain is seriously delaying potato planting in Britain. Around half of planting still has to be done, which means a shorter growing season and potential price increases in the shops.

So I am going to take extra care of my spuds this year - might even water them (if the rain ever stops!)

Phew, glad I got mine in nice and early, even if I did have to provide them with a little extra protection.  A man on the next plot but one to my new plot told me that last year was rubbish for spuds on our plot due to the lack of rain......wonder if that will ever be a problem this year!  :o
