This is a picture of lettuce Arctic King. I'm really impressed to see it growing through winter on an open site without protection! Who has grown other varieties of winter lettuce and how have they performed? I have a packet of 'Merveille des quatres saisons' which I might try sowing next autumn.

I have Merveile de Quatre Saisons and Cocade/Bronze Arrow which I sowed in a seedbed in mid September under enviromesh, then thinned out some seedlings to cloches (open ended tunnels) in October leaving the rest to grow in situ.
They've all done really well and still look ok.

They look really good Dandelion.
I really want to make more use of the ground over winter this next year, so they are a good idea, and they look pretty as well.
