Manure. Seaweed. Mulch.
« on: January 20, 2007, 11:39:08 »
Not had my allotment long. Unsure to when dig in manure, then any that I'll get won't be rotted down, not sure if this is a good idea just digging in raw manure. Although the plot had been manured about a year ago and it's not been used since, would I really need to do it this year.

The other option I have is sea weed, I still think it'll need rotting down before I use it or can I just dig it in. The allotment holder next to mine just laid the sea weed over the top of the beds as a feed, I'm not sure on this either.

But could I use sea weed as a mulch.

Who needs a mini digger - when you got hands like shovels and arms like steam pistons. ;)

Never realised you could use it - after these storms I will go and take a look at the beach and see what is on offer.

Thanks for the tips :)

Just be down to the beach,  :(  not a lot of seaweed, think these storms we had may of had the opposite effect and washed it back out. This beach is usually knee deep in places.
