Polytunnel
« on: January 05, 2007, 13:24:39 »
We started building a polytunnel last year, but due to being busy with work, away and the weather have not finished it, Its nearly done.  I am just wondering when would be a good time to put the plastic sheeting on(i know you need to avoid windy days!)

Depends on when you want to start sowing under cover. Some things are good for planting under cover soon.... So you may want to get prepared before as opposed to doing it all i a rush ::)

they reckon you need good, warm weather but, due to all sorts of things, ours had to go up in October, last year, cold, quite windy, as long as you make sure the skin's quite taut, you should be o.k,  :)

You should put the skin on,  on a hot day, the reason for doing this is because the skin expands with the heat of the sun so therefor you get a tighter fit.

Ideally but if you wait now for a hot day you'll miss the early plantings

The plastic is more pliable and stretchy when its warm so store it indoors for a few days before using it.
