straw mulch is growing grass...
« on: January 13, 2007, 14:26:27 »
started mulching with fresh straw bales from a local farm/stables.  It was great fun and light shone on the horizon. ;D

After all the rains it is now growing grass, which is a bit poo.  Can't poison it as the rains keep coming.

Any ideas?

It's probably baby barley if it's barley straw. Tip from Ruth Stout: when you see a sprouty piece of straw mulch, lift it up and turn it over. Job done! :D Or if the mulch is thin, mulch on top and smother it  :)
