All put away for another year
« on: January 03, 2007, 14:35:49 »
Lovely.  I have reclaimed the house.  The children and I have put away all the decs and have a pile of cards to cut up into labels for next year.  Some of the wrapping paper is being used by daughter and her Paper FX kit she got from father Christmas.  Cardboard is piled ready for the plot tomorrow.  Friday, we have the cavity wall insulation men coming do fill our walls up for winter so I am having to remove all pics from walls and bits from windowsills.  Then next week I am going to spend a whole day spring cleaning.  Sad, but you know, I am really looking forward to it!

I do! I love to keep christmas going as long as possible, I'm an old romantic at heart! :)  And my family are the same.  It has felt strange to have them go back to school so early this year. :(

All away, except for two small ornaments which I leave 'til 6th.
I've given the sitting room a good 'bottoming' as my dear M-i-L would say.
The only Christmassy things I don't like to take down are the outside lights, but I did it yesterday. I can't believe it's all over-it was really great and so was New Year.
Ah well, lots to look forward to this year, onward and upward. ;D
Smile, it confuses people.

well, I've taken down the cards and sorted them into ones I can cut up for new ones next year and ones for re-cycle, our tescos garage has a box to put them in, will slowly take the decs down, finishing on 6th  ;D

We usually leave ours up 'til 6th in an attempt to make christmas last as long as possible, but this year i'm raring to get them down and get on with planning our lottie! Had some furniture delivered today and the boxes will do just right for the paths - just have to decide where to put them now!!! x
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened

I always resist as long as possible before... 20 something... so OH can keep them until the 6th as a compromise... I wouldn't have any "Bah Humbug!"

Once the children go back to school Dolphin, they just irritate me.  To be honest, as much as I aboslutely adore Christmas, if I had my way, they would come down between Christmas and new year.  :-\

We do  ;D  As others have said, it's nice to leave them up as long as possible.  It's also my husband's birthday and he likes them up until the end of the day so we usually end up dismantling on the morning of the 7th!  :)

I put ours up on the 18th this year, and took them down again on the 28th. Can't stand the clutter!
