2006 Danbury & Little Baddow Horticultural Society Show
« on: September 23, 2006, 18:49:36 »
As some of you know, today I entered a few of my veggies and jams in the village show and I thought I would share some of my successes with you.  ;D

First for my 'Great White Beefsteak' (Large beefsteak class)

Second for my 'Omar Lebanese Beefsteak' (Large beefsteak class)

Third for my 'Alicante toms' (Tomatoes medium)

Highly Commended for my 'Reisentraube cherry toms' (small fruited class)

Third for my 'Edzel Blue spuds'  (coloured potato class)

Second for my yellow courgettes

Third for my 'lemon cucumber' (outdoor cucumber class)

Third for my 'Marrow and Ginger Jam' (recipe using marrow or courgette class)

Third for my 'Greengage Jam' (jam made from stone fruit class)

Second Prize for the Top Tray displaying 3 Lady Chrystl spuds, 6 enorma runner beans, 6 white beauty tomatoes. (I won a certificate and was presented with a £5 DTBrown seed voucher.

And most importantly, Number One Daughter won first prize for her garden in a seed tray!

I also entered other things which didn't win.  :-\

Along with plum jam, strawberry jam and gooseberry chutney.

Thrilled with my winners and now I have a good idea what I have to work towards for the next show! ;D

Well done EJ, and also to your daughter. Those Alicante toms look just perfect. Everything else looks great too!

Awww, shucks guys, thanks.  I was very nervous about entering, you expect your nearest and dearest to tell you how great your veggies are, but when you are asking strangers, well they are honest!

Emaggie, the lemon cucumbers are great, apple sized, with a crunchy, citrus taste.  Number one daughter loves them in her lunch box, ideal size, that is why I grow that type.
