Removal of an annoying gremlin in my temp int. files

Guess I'm aiming this toward Glow or Iggy etc.

In my temporary internet files I have a gremlin called Application.JS.ForcePopup.A which I just cannot shove out of the door.

I know it doesn't present a risk to our computer (other than letting through a few frustratingly annoying popups) because BitDefender picked it up straight away and blocked it but it wont quarantine or remove it which is strange for BD.  Have also tried other methods but none of them will shift it.  They all say access is denied blah blah.

I should be asking my hubby as he is the puter expert (even built this one for us) and ours is usually like Fort Knox so I don't know how this little bleeder got in, but he's really bogged down with work at present and I don't want to hassle him over something so trivial yet so annoying!

Anyone, please?  Thanks  :)

Lots of mentions of it in google but nothing very useful tbh.  Have you tried clearing your cookies ?  ::)

Try the full temp internet cleanup routine

my Computer
right click CL
disk clean up

select the temp internet folders and zap them

then have a look in your temporary Internet folders and remove all that remain in the

 C:\Documents and Settings\"your username"\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

folder. This may take a while

Do the same with the cookies folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\"your username"\Cookies

Empty your recycle bin.

Rescan te system the and reboot and rescan again.

To do this you may have to set your computer to show hiddn files and folders and tempoarily disable windows system restore.

If a file is in use and cannot be deleted, then access the folder from safe mode and remove the file.

More 2

you will need to use an account with administrator privileges

Hi Glow,

Thanks for the response.  I have tried all of the above and it still won't shift.  Still keeps telling me 'cannot read from the source file or disk'

Have to get ready for work now but will try going into the safe mode option when I get home later.

Thanks again (and MrsKP :))
