Bloomin' useless council
« on: April 07, 2004, 12:04:21 »
Hi all

Wanted to find out if ANY of you are within the auspices of Lewisham Council and if you have ever managed to find out about local allotments?  I have left messages - no response.  I ma not under the illusion that I'll get a lottie straight away, but to get on the waiting list would be good.

In any event, how do I find out where they are....

Any help would be very, very gratefully received!  :'(

Hi,

Have you tried looking for local council website?  That's where I found a list of local lotties.  Best of luck :D

Hmmm - their allotments information page hasn't been updated since 2001.

If you can't get through the direct number, the council's switchboard, or the regeneration directorate's number, visit a site on a Sunday afternoon and see if any of the gardeners  can help with contact information?

Good luck - Gavin

Find out who your local councillor is - especially if elections are due in June - and "make yourself known...."

I rang the council up, found out exactly where the allotment officer was based and what he was called. Went down to the appropriate council office and asked the very nice receptionist if I could have a word with him. He came down and after 10 minutes I had my lottie

You think yours is a bad council.
Down here in Portsmouth we have many uncared fro plots (nine on my row alone) but when people phone up the council to rent one they are told that the are 20th on the waiting list!!!
Does this make any sense or are they just justifying their jobs. >:( >:( >:(
It makes me sooooooo mad.
