Is this a damson tree?

I pass this tree every morning on leaving the house but I'd never noticed fruit on it until this morning. I thought they looked a bit like damsons, but wondered whether anyone could confirm this. I didn't have time to open the fruit and look at the stone, but they are about 3cm/1inch in diameter. There aren't that many on the tree but don't know if that's because the birds have been eating them. If hey are damson't I recon I'll make some damson pickle for mum :-)

Does look like damson.
Personally, I prefer damson gin.

Might be a small Gage, as the fruit are a bit too round for Damsons, but a bit too big for sloes, all in the same family and can go the same way, jam or gin
;D
