Yellow Crookshank Squashes
« on: July 25, 2006, 10:55:57 »
Help required yet again please!!    ;D   Other than butternut which I cut up and roast, I have not grown or bought any other squashes before.  This year I have Yellow Crookshank and don't know how big they should be when I pick them and how they are best cooked.  Should I ripen them too on a windowledge as they feel very hard?

Here are two Yellow Crookshanks I picked this morning and a box of assorted squash and courgettes from my garden.

Are they a summer squash? If so pick them the size you want them to be.

What is the bottom left squash in the bottom picture?

They are all summer squash.  The one at the bottom left of the picture is a Zephyr courgette that grew into a marrow.   ::)
