Emma Jane - I agree - always so sad to see them on the road.  That's  why I went out really,  he was in our front garden and I wanted to stear him away from the road if need be - in the end he tootled off around the back so finger's crossed he stays there!

:o We used to have a hedgehog who followed my OH around when he was working in the garage, problem was that the cats didn't like him much. He used to wander in, walk around OH, have a little number 2 and sit looking at OH. OH kept putting him back into the field near us, but he kept coming back - after a few days he dissappeared, maybe found someone else to stare at!

Maybe he ate all your slugs and snails and toddled off into someone elses garden.   ::)  You could try putting some cat food out for him to encourage him back again as they do a lot of good in the garden.     ;)
