wierd but effective mechanical spade
« on: June 21, 2006, 21:35:27 »
The other day at the plot I noticed one of the old boys using a wierd spade. It had wide handles, much like a suffolk lawn mower. At the back was a large, curved tongue - He inserted the spade, and pulled back on the toungue, which lifted the spit with no effort at all.

Looked great -but he didn't know what it was called, and had had it from a relative.

Any ideas?
The problem with being an IT teacher is that all those kids get in the way of my interaction with the computers.

Ohhh, lovely gadgets :)
I'm gonna get me one of these, which sounds a bit like a fork version of your spade:

I've tried (and failed) to get one from France, since October last year >:(

Wasn't a terrex spade was it ? I was given one and couldn't do without it. It can take alittle while to get used to it, but once you get going..........!

Sounds very much like it. I have acquired an old one and am currently 'tidying' it up before taking it to my plot to do the winter digging ...

Any chance of a picture mrphil?
