For newbies!
« on: June 20, 2006, 22:57:43 »
1. dont take peas down the lotty on a windy afternoon or else they will all snap before you manage to tie them to the stakes!

2. make sure all your seeds packets are well sealed/folded up so that when you open your bag with 20 diff seed packets you dont find them emptied at the bottom of the bag all mixed up.

3. Dont take children with you when its raining.

4. Dont go down tipsy after a beer and a glass of wine, coz you will no doubt be busting for the loo as soon as you arrive and all you will want to do is go back home (esp. if its raining and windy)

There - my first bad lotty day!

LOL oliveoil, I can only add:

Don't try to plant seed tapes on a windy day
Or lay black plastic (nursing plastic thwack)

Don't even attempt to put fleece out on a windy day, and take a flask of summit to keep you warm, and have a mate with a shed you can take a bucket to afterwards! :-[ :-[

Don't take on an allotment with nineteen window frames plus countless panes of glass hidden all over it.
Or one with a skip full of rotten wood again hiding in every conceivable place.
Not one where the whole site is covered in broken glass, with three foot high weeds and countless bricks.
Nor one where the previous occupier ploughed it like a field no level service for this site.
Also dont get one where you think you've got neighbour who will help you all your days. Only to find that hes set light to the tinder dry weeds ext   In an almost bonfire free zone!!!!
It now looks like the great out doors when someones dropped a ciggy.
But doo get one were a hedgehog has been sleeping in the shed aahhhh !!
I'm new myself so the only thing I could say is enjoy :D

AAhhh thanks Lorna,I'm a trier thats all,
and I've got you lot, without uuss I'd be
kna........d.  :D
Mick's picking my ten pound shed up this
week, its got know roof and has never seen
creosote but its fixable. I want it for my tea
mashing area! And for keeping pretties in.
The other falling down one can be for tools.
Mick says he will be rotivating and leveling
in the next two weeks but I've heard that before
so I wont hold my breath ::)
Whatever its slowly getting there. If I only
get one or two plants in this year I shall be
happy, theres plenty of years to grow things.
I'm in know rush.
