Hi Kitty.  My box plants are now big enough to be given a serious pruning and I'd like to go for the classic ball shape.  Any tips for a total beginner in the topiary stakes?

I used to live at Tattenham Corner and LOVED Derby day!  Was great fun hosting Derby parties, strolling to the races, then strolling back home (via the off licence to spend our winnings on Champers if we did well, or lager if we lost!)

Yes, it was much easier than I expected thanks to your excellent tips and I quite enjoyed it once I got the hang of it.  I've given it a good foliar feed with seaweed extract this evening.  When can I do it again?   ;D

I clip mine lightly again in about August and last year I put the cuttings in a half seed tray. Today I planted them in little square pots and now have about 24 new box plants. They all have very strong roots except for one which failed to root, so I'm really pleased with them. Box hedges round my flower beds at the lottie soon! Posh or what? 8)
