Carrots and cornflowers
« on: May 02, 2006, 09:19:23 »
Listening with half an ear to Gardeners' Question Time a couple of weeks ago, my wife heard something about companion planting cornflowers and carrots. Does anyone know anything about this? Ever tried it? What's the reasoning? And what do you do? My guess is mix up the two seeds together and just plant them like that, but something more sophisticated may be in order...

no, you got it spot on,mix the seeds, sow them, and you still get carrot fly ;D the idea is to confuse the carrot fly, with the tap root of the cornflower I think .....::) carrot flies seem to be smart and are not fooled by this, they still munched on my carrots >:( /shades x
