WOW - that was quick
« on: April 15, 2006, 19:31:52 »
Noticed some seedlings just starting to peep through this morning.  As I have been pottering around the house and garden today, I kept going back and taking a look - they have practically grown before my very eyes 8) 8)

Peas - 1 this morning and 9 tonight
Chilli - 1 this morning and 3 tonight
Toms -1 this morning and too many to count tonight

Once they decide to wake up, they really go for it.  Bit like the kids really ;D

I know what you mean.  I planted some toms about a week and half ago.  They usually come through like bullets but by middle of this week, nothing.  In the morning I said to hubby - 'doesn't look like these are going to germinate'.  Came home that very same evening and seed tray was like a lawn! Very impressive.

I do the same - amazing isn't it?

Shame you can't stick the kids in a plastic tray on the window ledge and just water them every morning though ... ;)

Seedlings don't come demanding instant access to the computer or your wallet either.

13 peas this morning

The cucumbers and mange tout have also decided to wake up.

Now I REALLY need to get my diggin' and weedin' finished.

I've also been amazed and delighted at how quickly some of my seeds have germinated....3 days ago I sowed a seed tray with a mix of oriental 'nice 'n spicy' salad leaves (free from GYO) and other'mixed salad leaves' seed....yesterday I noticed some were 'pushing thru' and today....there are loads of them appearing....now that's quick!....didn't realise any seed could germinate in 48 hours!! and these are sitting on a non-sunny window sill!

;D

Someone told me that germination of celeriac was a bit iffy, I sowed loads cos I love it. Result? I have almost 100% germination and have offered a new plottie some when they are ready for them, first time I have ever been able to do that, it feels GREAT!!! ;D

and there's more......

Sowed a module tray, half with Webbs wonderful and half with Lollo Rosso on Easter Saturday.  Put a propagator lid on and popped them on the 2nd shelf of the mini greenhouse and today they are peeking through already....amazing :o
