I sincerely hope that it is March 4th - I sowed mine today! Now in heated propogators in the summer house, together with two types of chillies.

I planted some in my windowsill heated propagator on 1 March - it was snowing and I needed cheering up. Today the first seedlings are already showing -  ;D. I think it might be a bit early really and have carefully kept back plenty of seed for a 2nd attempt if necessary.

Hi New Potter,          you do not say where you are planting you toms, for a greenhouse  or on your allotment. I always start mine off in the conservatory during the third week of March for planting out on the allotment about the 20th of May.

I sowed yesterday. Half will end up in cold greenhouse and the other half outside. When will depend on the weather.

Given this weather I would say some time in July!!-sorry being a bit cynical. Anytime now in a propagator would be fine?

All very well - getting things in early. BUT, if they are going into a cold 'house, do make sure you can cover them with fleece at night.

We get sharp frosts into JUNE!

I only sowed my first back at the weekend, a whole month later than last year.

I do have a heated house and artificial light though, light new this year.

Last year I was cropping in June but later sowings were only a week or so behind so I have been concentrating on other things first this year.
