Good thread. I'm Wicker not because I'm a basket case (well not all the time!) but because I come originally from Wick(er) - tho anyone knowing the dialect would say it should be pronounced "weeker" ;)

Hi
This is a really interesting thread ;D.
I'm PAKABA, because our surname begins with an A, and i'm Paula,(PA) dh is Keith(KA) and my eldest son is Ben(BA), i used it for the first time when he was just born.

so I guess now instead of signing off Pakaba i can sign off Paula. :)

Heh, good thread

I'm 'Bellebouche' because that's the name of our little hamlet where we're first time gardeners and learning running a small allotment (or French 'potager') by jumping in at the deep end. Last year was only really half a year but we "did rather well" http://www.bellebouche.com/2005cultivation.html (thanks to some pointers from the A4A forum!)

What a fun thread!  When I first joined a message board I wanted to remain anonymous so I decided to fashion my name on one of my favourite football players and called myself Erica Cantona.  But I forgot my password and had to register with a different name so I went for Georgie, after Georgie Best, my girlhood hero.  Yup, true red.   ;)

Mine is fairly straightforward really.  Pauline is my first name, S is what my surname begins with and 7 is the day when I was born.

;D

Great thread!! Have always been curious about peoples choice of name!!
Katy is a nickname I used to have because Caroline is too long and no one ever used it, but that's my real one. The "newbie" part was so that people would realise that I knew very little when I first joined the site last June, that has not changed!!

Mine is sort of self-explanatory really.  Garden, because I'm never happier than when working in my garden.  As for the 'girl' bit, I think this is wishful thinking at my age ;D
Happy gardening all...........Pat

mat is because my initials spell "mat" it was given to me in 1999 by the Open University as part of my login, and it has stuck...  I used to hate it as a child, but I have grown so find of it over the last 7 or so years thanks to the OU, that I now use it in many places!

It is funny how you form opinions of people based on the name they chose - you are busy shattering some of these!

Mine I use on various things and is the name of the computer in the Discworld books.  Just to show how bad at names I am, both my son and my dog are named after pratchet characters.  My Dad (Palustris) guessed who it was from the user name.

Good thread - glad I am not the only nosey one out there.

Mine is after one of my parents dogs - who is called Daisy and her nickname is Daisymay - not sure why! I kind of adopted it a user name a few years ago as she happened to come to see me for some fuss as I was trying to think of one.

(My real name is Gemma)
