Gourd seeds from Lidl
« on: March 06, 2006, 14:09:14 »
I was in Lidl the other day and bought a few packs of seeds including a pack of "Gourd, small fruits mixed" which I got as I thought they were like squashes. Now at 29p for the pack I figured I'd get some and try them but on closer inspection in another language they are called  Potiron decoratif so my question is are they going to be any good for eating? It has a flower symbol where other veg has a basket symbol (harvesting time). I can cope with losing 29p but would they be okay to eat with just a less impressive flavour or will they taste nasty or be bad for you. ??? ??? ???

My guess is that they are something like this from the Organic Gardening Catalogue:

Just for creating 'interesting' table arrangements and such if you're into that sort of thing.

They do look like a similar kind of mix to that.
Maybe I'll grow a plant or two in pots for halloween decorations if I have the space left.
Shame there was me thinking I'd got myself a real bargain ::) :-[ :-\
