see pages 1-3 of this week's Garden News :). look forward to next week's letters page too!

VERY nice grumpy looking pic Larry.  Very atmospheric and i loved Monty's sentiment.

Let's hope this goes from strength to strength and that you win in the end.

Have read garden news and thought Montys comments were a bit unfair. Not EVERY church goer' thinks the closing of the allotments are a good thing. Some balance needed Monty...

I should think not, I'm a preacher and I think this is totally wrong. Mind you, I'm often at odds with the hierarchy. Actually, I could probably manage a sermon on it. I'm not sure whether it applies to Methodists or lay preachers, but there's an old law which says that a vicar can't legally be interrupted during the sermon. When they come to take possession, if it ever comes to that, I could probably manage to bar their way and preach an extra long one.

Thanks for the other Robert: they actually have possession as we received legal letters threatening dire consequences if we carried on tending our plots.
Monty's comments came at a particularly interesting time. It made me wonder: if he had said the same thing about mosques/synagogues/temples etc would it have upset a different set of people, and would those people who are upset by his view when he is talking about church, still be upset on behalf of other faiths?
Someone once said to me: offence can't be given, it can only be taken, which I'm not sure is totally accurate in the case of hardcore extremists whatever their unpleasant beliefs, but I see their point.
I will finish it, one day

All I can say is, I get upset whatever faith is being abused.

I can understand why Monty said the comment but it was just a bit unbalanced I thought. Dan :-)
