Wonderful Allotment People!!
« on: February 07, 2006, 15:33:42 »
;D ;D

My plot had a huge pigeon loft (double garage size) slowly decomposing on it. Previous plottie has moved lots of it, but there is still huge amounts to do. Have tried to do as much as I can, but as I am doing it all on my own it's been a bit of a struggle.

Just had a note though the door, the Allotment Assoc are having a "Work Weekend" on my plot with two skips and will be moving the shed for me and helping to clear all the c**p up!!!! That's this weekend!!!!

I AM SO GRATEFUL!!! Also very lucky!!

What a wonderful crowd your association sound like. Turning hard and heavy tasks into a social occasion certainly ease the labour. What about taking down bacon butties and a flask of tea, or perhaps preparing it on a fire or barbeque?
The impossible is just a journey away ...

Aren't you lucky Katie and what a go-ahead Allotment  Association.  It must generate a really good community feeling having something like this. Ina, from this Board, has told us before that each member of her Allotment Association is obliged to do a yearly stint of work for the benefit of their Site, which I think is a great idea.  It should make a big difference to your plot and get you off to a good start this season.  :) busy_lizzie

Oooh you lucky thing!  ;D  ;D   It's fab to get such help.

No chance of any of that here. They wouldn't get me a skip and lots of people kept dumping their rubbish in my garden long after I'd taken it on  grrr!

Hope you have a very industrious weekend and I really hope you make loads of new friends out of it too.

Woo hoo... all that new space for planting... yay!!!

Ken, if you can cope with the huge amount of pigeon seed and the result of it at the other end of the pigeon (yeeeeuuughhh) you are welcome to come and stay!!!

I must say that the folk on my site are really kind and helpful too. If there's anything big needing doing they all rally round. Tools appear when required, plots get rotovated: someone even tied up my tomatoes for me last summer when I wasn't able to go for a week and they'd had a big growth spurt.

I've just looked at your photos think they are fantastic.  VERY well done lady  ;D

Wish we had a good atmosphere on our site.  Just about non-existant :'(

As for skips  ...   well  ...  what a laugh !!

Ken!!! The pigeons left when fat cat Bud moved in!! He likes his grub, hence the saucepans, and can whip up a mean salmon mousse when required!

He is not allowed on the work tops, obviously, and is not really fat...just has heavy bones!

Once I realised that I am the pet we got on just fine.

Your Bud has a look like my long gone pal. She was 17 when she went but she had that look that went right into your head. Lots of intelligence behind the eyes.
(You sure that's not a pigeon loft going spare?)
