Hello everyone.

I'm a newbie here.  I was a lurker on the Beeb board and was recently directed to this board, but I don't have a lottie.  Am I still allowed on here?  

I do grow some veggies in the garden, although I'm a bit of a novice, sticking to reliable runner beans, leeks etc.  This year I tried growing peas for the first time.  All I ended up with were two pods filled with very bitter tasting peas.  What did I do wrong?

Hi Jacque, firstly welcome to this Board, of course you are allowed on here !!!

I'm not expert enough to answer your problem on your peas, but there are those who frequent this Board who will.   But I know that they will want to know the supplier of the seeds, and the seed name,   e.g. Unwin, Alderman.   Let's hope you haven't thrown the packet away.

BTW, you can still lurk about on Auntie's Boards, many of us still do, even though we are drawn back to this one as if it is "HOME".

I had a reasonable show of peas this year.  I found that I had nothing for ages, just lots of growth, then suddenly masses of flowers and very well filled pods.  I don't know the ansa but I found plenty of water, lots of sun and a load of chicken manure seemed to do the trick.  They seemed to start making pods at the same time my runners came into flower so there were lots of bees around...don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Hi Jacque, I have know Idea what went wrong,peas are pretty forgiving as a rule. You may have duff seeds or maybe just one of those things-so all I can say is try again next season.
