I'm jealous of all of you  :( . I've just had a walk around our field and had a look at one of the old boys pumpkins, they are huge. I have one the size of a 5p piece. That's a new 5p not old one!

Pumpkin causes purchase of... new digital camera

At least that's my story... and I'm sticking to it.

Mine are romping away and I really should be taking some as-they-grow snaps... my last camera has turned up its toes finally so there's a new one on the way now courtesy of Amazon.

I promise the first pictures I take will be done down on the pumpkin patch!

Still not too late to start another, probably best really?!
Mine is just starting and cricket ball size and not growing much?
It is on the main vine but others keep sneaking up on me like the 21lber the other day that I missed!

Checked on my largest hundredweight this morning, I reckon it is now 9 inches dia, that is growth of 3 inches over the week. Six to eight weeks of growing season left ... ?

Sorry to hear of your dilemma, Helly ...

These things happen because I faff too much!!  ::)  :D   There is hope on the horizon...my son found another one growing. I hadn't noticed that one of the vines has grown up the fence and there dangling from it,hidden by nettles, is a pumpkin about tennis ball sized.  Note to myself  LEAVE IT ALONE! I may lower the vine a bit though,SEE! I've started to faff already ::)

That one I snapped off was about...thinks, thinks...you know those small footballs that you can get? It was a tad larger than one of those.  Was going to bring it home to weigh it as it seemed really heavy but when my son had a hole of it it somehow split in two.   Everyone acted innocently so I don't know what happened and I couldn't have a grump at anyone because I'd snapped it off in the first place!!

My daughter's jack o lantern has over taken my son's ghost. I told my son his won't grow enormous...his is grown for looks  :)

I am growing edible pumpkins this year and got to the allotment last night to see that someone had nicked my largest pumpkin so far, a northern bush (see my icon, alas it is no more)!  :'( Can't tell you how upset I was. I have plenty of other squashes, but this one was shaping up to be a beauty. I'm hoping the plant will come up with another one. Sigh. Not sure if it was kids because it was a very clean cut and the plant was intact otherwise. We're going to try and set up some netting for the other ones outside the corn. At least slow down the thieving weasels.  :-\
This year it's squash.

This is my biggest so far. I just took the pic this afternoon, including my hand, so you could judge this size.  :D busy_lizzie

So sorry Squashfan, that you have lost one of your biggest squash! What a rotten thing to happen!  I know how you feel as one of my biggest last year was vandalised and kicked around just outside my plot, so I could see it in pieces as I was walking up to my allotment.  Made me so mad!  >:( busy_lizzie

It must be very disappointing for you EJ.  I think it must be very difficult for you though without water on tap, and I often wonder how you manage to get the  fantastic veggies that you do get without good access to water, particularly this year. Take heart that you have had other wonderful  veggies, and if you didn't have the odd failure you would demoralise the rest of us!  ;D  busy_lizzie
