Compost
« on: April 09, 2006, 17:59:18 »
Turning my compost heap is what I've been doing today, from the front bay into the back one. In a couple of months it should be ready for mulching between rows:

I've got 2 bins as well, again made from pallets. This is a pic from last autumn - the bin on the right is empty, all the stuff having been used, and the one on the left is half full, and by the end of the year was full up. It doesn't take that long if you put everything you can on it! The green plastic "dalek" bin is empty, that's what I use for forcing my rhubarb :)

Jenny, how clever, I have about 4 of those daleky things doing nothing since Other Half made my compost bins... now I know what I can use one for next year (bit late for this year)... great idea.

No. 2 bin arrived yesterday, turned No. 1 into No. 2 today.  Quite a bit of stuff that looked like it should, quite a bit more that looked like it could do with a bit more cooking.

Still that's nearly filled No. 2, so with a bit of luck that will heat it up a bit.  Takes ages this don't it ?   ::)
