Runner beans

I'm putting the final touches to my lottie plan but are unsure what to do with my runner beans. Do these go in with the other Legumes? i.e rotated each year. Or can they be kept in the same place for some time? I thought I remember reading somewhere that they don't have to be moved that often. Any advice?

Hi CD, look further down this page to a subject Crop Rotation started by Beer Belly. The message posted by John Miller on page 2 gives you the answer. In case you don't know, you can trust John Miller's word completely - he is an ultimate authority.

You must have forgotten, Colin. I gave substantially the same reply (as John`s) to `Punctuation David` on the Beeb site (Allotments Board) over 3 months ago - together with my comments on the advice in `The Boys Own Book of Gardening for Beginners`which he so often quoted, but which I see you also mentioned in reply to Beer Belly`s posting. O ye of little faith!

I'm sure that I heard it was a good idea to rotate beans
of any sort as they return nitrogen to the soil and so are an excellent improver.
I have even come across them being grown to fill any empty spaces, then used as a green manure as well as a nitrogen fixer.
:D
In other words , they are wonderful any where, any time

Hugh, I must have missed your good advice on Auntie's Boards - I was missing for a while.
It is also possible that you have missed my comment that Hessayon (about whom I presume you refer - who else) has been assigned to my top shelf.
I had found the book useful in the absence of more informed thinking, and had mentioned it to BB
before
John Miller had put me to rights.
Please forgive me.
