Tulip, mentioning the Main Gate reminded me of a trip through to Holland with a "cavalier" standing up through the sunroof with plastic sword poised ahead of him, shouting "charge!"   Had forgotten that.
Also some noggin cutting about 2 feet off the top of the Christmas tree when asked to shorten it. What a clip it was.
A couple of lads used to make use of the special Dutch clubs. They had a competiton where they'd drive up and see who could be in and back out in the fastest time  ::). All done in a Starsky and Hutch driving stylee if you know what I mean.
Funny what pops into the head when triggered. Mind you I've forgotten alot because I made use of Prop Flight's bar quite a bit!
I remember the steel dungarees in Roermond though.

Carol ,I wasn't in the RAF,my ex husband was and still is. He was based at Leeming until a couple of months ago. He's moving up to Boulmer soon. I'm not entirely chuffed with that. I had a great time,I spent most of it with the singlies, both the boys and girls I hasten to add!  Didn't gel with some of the forces wives to be honest, they were a bit unfriendly but the RAF lads and lasses were great.

Heldi.  Other half left the RAF probably before you were borned.  We were at RAF Seletar in Singapore,  RAF Wattisham in Suffolk and RAF Leuchars, Fife.  I didnt mix with the forces wives either. Is RAF Boulmer the Search n Rescue Station?

Yeah that's right Carol. The one that is supposed to be closing! My ex's squadron has disbanded so he has moved from Tornadoes to helicopters. As you do  ??? .

When I was "involved" with the RAF I made friends with a lovely lass who had been married to the RAF for quite some time. She and her OH had travelled the world. Her stories were brilliant. She had thee most gorgeous furniture from Hong Kong.  She said then that the travel opportunities had diminished.

I've got a lovely huge Dutch Oak bed from Venlo Netherlands  lol!

I keep finding a card from a lassie I used to get along with. She came from Selkirk. I wonder sometimes if I should drop her a line but then I put it off because we lost contact so long ago. Maybe I should hunt it out and just do it eh!

P.S changed me pic.

Nice photos, girls.
And very sexy, Snail!

Search & Rescue? Nostalgia. I directed it for 4 years. And did a lot of it in my Shackleton time at Ballykelly.

Crikey - getting near to 3000 viewings now although getting hard to track down all the pictures!    Have to say I'm impressed though.  I'd nearly given up on the daily mail article having got squinty eyes from trying to find these "lovely women all taking to allotments".

At last I know where you've all been hiding  ;D

Does that get me some extra points for Christmas.........  ;)

I think this is a good point, first made by Tim about 20 pages ago!: maybe if Dan turns this into a sticky thread we should go back and delete our non-picture posts?? Feel like I've created a monster!

Svea you have VERY nice clothes. Sexy Snail please face the camera next time, ok...

I disagree terracemax, this is a social thread, and the banter is part of the thread. I am all for having a sticky with only pictures in it, however.

If that can be arranged DTF, I agree wholeheartedly: best of both worlds...
