Speaking as a sparks of some 26 years experience...... DO AS YOU'RE TOLD YOU SILLY BOY......... the switch will not cut the feed to the lights, just the return >:(

Perhaps not, but the statistic will be used by the Health and Safety Executive to justify the introduction of Part P in the first place ...

OK not being an electrician or anything close, i can change a plug and lightbulb etc. Anyway I am assuming you are wanting him/her to switch of their circuit breaker or such thing to this light. I would have though this was sensible if not wanting a shock from said light.
