Has anyone grown Celtuce?
« on: November 13, 2005, 10:34:47 »
Hi all,

I was going through my seed catalogues again and wondered about celtuce.  It sounds interesting - for salads and cooking, but as I only have a small area in my garden for veggies I need to grow things that I know will perform and things that I know we love to eat...

I would like to try something new though, and was wondering if its a good "do-er" and how much space does it take up.

Thanks
Alimo

Alimo I grew it for the first time this year, tasted like...well lettuce! Space need, each one grew to the size of a cos, but less compact.  I used mine as a cut n come again, picking the leaves as and when needed. Didn't try cooking it.
Grew well for me, and once it got going didn't seem to be slug fodder like the rest of my lettuces!
Have a few seeds left, if you wan't them PM me with your address.  DP
