Yew know....................
« on: October 11, 2005, 15:18:34 »
This tree is believed to be at least 1,500 years old! :o :o :o :o
(hence it being propped up! ;D)

It is at St Denys church in Rotherfield, The present sandstone church in the centre of the village dates from the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries!

It's not specifically a British weapon, it was known all across Europe. There was a craze for it in England which led to the production of enough archers to make it a battle-winner, and this was later backed by the law as the craze faded. It didn't last that long due to the enormous skill needed to wield it effectively, but it was an aweasome weapon while it lasted, far superior to the Napoleonic musket.
