When can you start picking sloes in the south of England ?

Do ours after the first frost.

Or do it now and bung them in the freezer for a couple of weeks.  ;D

I actually pick them now. It seems that if I wait until frosts, either they are dropping off or someone else has pinched them!
Doesn't seem to me to affect the flavour (but then the sloe gin never touches the sides!)
