Allotments 2 Keep Chickens/Quail
« on: September 08, 2005, 23:02:32 »
Hi all
Is there anyone out there who knows of any private allotments in Nottingham?

My partner and I are breeding Quail and Bantams (chickens) and are running out of space fast. The situation is getting quite desperate and quails breed like rabbits ::)

Thanks very much

Why not local authority as they publish their sites on the web?  Our council says we can't keep chucks etc on our plots but my mate being a clever sausage got hold of a copy of the council's lotty rule book (don't know how) and there is nothing in it which says chickens etc can't be kept.  As a result we've now challenged them on it and they've had to hold their hands up

They were fibbing  :o
I came, I saw, I composted

I've been in touch with the local council and they have said they don't allow poultry on their alloments, because of hygiene and noise pollution.

After a half hour conversation a local council allotment is unsuitable, since we're breeding to sell. So it either private allotment or renting/buying some land.
And since us 2 poor s*ds haven't any spare cash renting is our only option.
