I'd like to say hello
« on: November 23, 2003, 21:35:59 »
Hi,
I am so pleased to find a site dedicated to allotments! it is something sorely needed.  ;D

I have three plots on a site in North Cheshire. I grow lots of veg, of course, and also loads of flowers. I am in fact one half of a double act, as I couldn't manage three plots without my husband, who is just a keen as I am about the allotments. Together we have bee 'allotmenteers' for eleven years now.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and hope I can make a good contribution to the board.

Welcome. There is a lot to be said for North Cheshire as an ex Widnesian I could probably say it as well.

Hello Clivia and 'husband'!  Welcome!!  Flowers is something I am keen to grow at my lottie.  I only have one plot currently, but have my eye on the one behind as it is badly neglected........imagine it in spring and summer, full of plants and flowers!  Oh happy days!  ;D

:D  Welcome Clivia, from a fellow Cheshirearian, (if Wilmslow counts)  I got hooked on growing veg when i was a small girl on my great grandads plot in Elsemere port, he used to make me pick out worms and put them on the compost heap and every time i whent home he would cut me a tiny posy of flowers to say thank you so i have very fond memories of allotment life in cheshire,  and now i have my own allotment which i love, i have had it for two years and spend way too much time thinking about what to plant,  its in Bath not cheshire, where i live now though my veggies often do the run up the m5/6 to dads for dinner.

Aha Clivia and partner, experienced allotmenteers, welcome. How DID you find this site? Do you know you can post pictures on the Gallery? If you don't know how, you can just mail them to the administrator and he'll put them on the board for you with any message you want. So nice of you to join us. Warm greetings, Ina

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I, too, am an ex -Widnesian, currently living in Runcorn.
I found this site through a newsletter put out by our allotment officer on the local council. I bet you will have a few more from this area following behind me!

Small world aint it. We left Runcorn 8 years ago for more rural parts. But Widnes bred and buttered.
