Say ahh
« on: November 28, 2003, 09:54:27 »
My dog got put down the day before yesterday  :'(

She'd had the big C for a couple of years and arthritus, was deaf and nearly blind but had reached the grand age of 16ish.
She used to eat birthday cakes and Xmas decorations and was nicer than a lot of people. RIP Guiness

I have so many happy memories of them as you must have of yours and this does help you through.
Thinking of you at this sad time

It's a bereavement, just like any other, isn't it BB? One feels such a dreadful loss..

When, first, my cat died, after a while I wanted to have a permanent reminder of her in my garden, so concentrated on her personality & wondered which perpetual plant I'd buy...trolled garden centres, etc. looking for inspiration, but nothing seemed to 'fit'..

Then, in the Co-op (this was springtime) I came across a fuchsia called Dollar Princess - a double,  and purple & crimson - Old Ma Nature on Speed?? - and it fitted the bill exactly - OTT, my cat... ;D

When, then, the little dog died, I looked again...shy,  inoffensive little dog but one who always made her presence felt and, in fact, by doing nothing at all (like play, bark or go for walks, f'rinstance) nevertheless ruled the household..

Her Memorial plant is a rose called 'The Queen Mother'  ::)  ;D  - Lishka

So sorry BB!  It does hurt when a pet dies and although she did live a long life and will no longer have to suffer with any of her illnesses - it is a big loss. Dogs in particular give out such a lot of love.
It is a nice idea to have a memorial of some sort.  When our cat died a few years ago, I bought a rosebush, which I think was called "Precious Memories" it seemed appropriate. busy_lizzie  :(

Sorry for the loss of your friend, BB. Its always hard even after a long illness.
I have an elderly, poorly cat and have had to prepare ourselves for his demise on several occasions, but he soldiers on. We  just hope he'll go peacefully in his sleep under his favourite bush in th garden.

Oh B.B. really sorry to hear about the loss of your much loved dog....have also experienced losing my much loved friend....a border collie....she was just lovely but only 8....also the big C....altho that was some years ago now....I still miss her....now I have to live in a flat and not allowed a pet of any sort - well other than a fish or bird I suppose - who might be good company anyway!!  but living alone now could do with the companionship of a dog and you can't take a fish or bird for a walk........canyou??
