Why don't you just sit by your tree and turn the lights on and off, on and off, or..................... blink your eyes a lot.

Wow! Ina, Was I seeing things there  :o :oor did you just have an animation of a cat on your last posting.  That was impressive ;D   Putting our Christmas Decs up on the 12th Dec. always a surprise they are still working, but each year we seem to get bigger and better.  We have a little fir tree up at the allotment, and I am tempted to hang some tinsel round it, but my husband (Mike) has told me not to be so silly. Thought it might be a treat for the wildlife.  :D busy_lizzie

I am fighting my other half who wants to go and chop the tree down this weekend, if he tells the kids I will be outnumbered and up on Sunday it will go  :(  Bit too early for me, plus we will have the usual arguments over the lights :) and centering the tree has often nearly led to divorce court!!  But have to say once it is up I love it, and hate to take it down on twelth night : :'(

I like to wait for as long as poss, normally the w/e before...... my problem is stopping my 6 3/4yr old decorating the tree with homemade tat ..... and as for paper chains... banished to her bedroom. I like to be in control with nice colour-coordinated decorations......sad I know.........

I also get fed up  with xmas cards with red-breasred birds on them ......... everyone thinks they're original ...

Ahhhhh...so the Tavern won't be having a Landlady named Legless in the Panto?? (It is such a wonderful name for a Landlord/Lady, too ;) - can we 'borrow' it anyway, please? )

And where are you going for Crimbo, then? - Lishka

Busy lizzie if other half thinks tinsel on the lottie is a bit naff. How about making a string of peanuts in their shell and draping that instead.  Im sure the wildlife would enjoy that and a few fat balls, much more. We always put up the deckies night of the 13th before daughter no1's birthday on the 14th.  She could never understand why other children didnt have christmas trees and deckies for their birthday ::)

Good idea Mimi!  The birds at our lottie gives us such pleasure, they are always twittering and singing, makes us feel we are way out in the countryside, even though we have to net everything as they really tuck in.  I think they had about three redcurrant bushes to themselves this year.  We would miss them though if they werent around. busy_lizzie  :)

Christmas is for me the day with lousy TV before I spend the day watching the racing.  As I've also managed to escape the clutches of family, and the housemates are away visiting theirs, it's a day we get the house to ourselves and do mad things like washing the paintwork and so on.

Thinking of putting a tree up this year, but it will last about as long as we keep it out of sight of the cats.

Lynne you made me feel quite sad.    :'(  What a miserable christmas.  Anything is better than having to wash the paintwork.  Maybe the 'Panto 'can be cinderella and you can clean out the fireplace as well. ;)   My christmas day will be spent in work until 2pm celebrating with the patients then home to dinner already cooked by no 1 daughter home from Germany.  Husband will be home from sea and no 2 daughter in forgeign parts.  The house will be a mass of "twinkle" :)After lunch we can all sit around stuffed, tinkled and tired.  Boxing day long walks along the beach to blow the cobwebs away.   Luuuuuuuuuverly ;D

swimming in the sea on boxing day! well i will be, in turkey!

i am having dinner cooked for me too, my contribution is the puddings, ripening nicely at the moment, provided i can get them through customes  ;D

its actually a bit disappointing, we normally have a goose and cook our christmas stuff over 3 days, stock, stuffing, cumberland sauce the lot, we both love cooking (and goose) and really look forward to it!
