For my special post a piece of advice
« on: November 28, 2003, 15:26:19 »
Remember the only dumb question is the one you never ask.

I found the above on a web site and thought of our site here. With many up and comming gardeners perhaps to shy to ask. My advice is ask any question and enjoy this site as we all do.

This being the 400 post I wanted it to say something special and to thank everyone who has helped me with advice and support.

Your a great bunch

Teresa

The main problem i see,Teresa, and one that has been mentioned a lot lately,is that people who first find the site think it is purely FOR people with allotments, therefore they either won't be allowed,or they won't have anything to contribute. If we can get the message over, like you often do,that everyone is welcome, whatever their interests, then we could have even more members.

You see I've been doing some "promoting" lately!!

Congrats on your 400+ posts. What day do you go to the Post Office ?

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Maggie
Post office ha ha
Yes your right this board is for all there is such a wide selection to choose from something for everyone.
From Hughs jokes to cooking.
Dan created this board for allotment gardeners because there was a need but he has seen the need for creating the wildlife side/cooking/ponds etc which all gardeners are interested in. This brings us alltogether as friends and the more the better.
Good on you Maggie for putting the word around

I do love it here!  It is like I have found a new special group of friends.  Everyone is made to feel welcome here, but I do like it that I can share my allotment questions and ask for advice having just gone through my first year as an allotmenteer and feeling a bit of a novice.  Whatever advice I have sought you  have always come up trumps with some pearl of wisdom. LOL  :D  busy_lizzie

Yo Teresa

"Remember the only dumb questionis the one you never ask" ....... we'll see about that :)

When aprroaching the speed of light, why is it that when things start to slow down as you move faster and faster in time... your ears "pop"? and sucking on a boiled sweet has no effect whatsoever??..... This has been puzzling me and the scientific community for years :)

and while I am at it

Why does 2 + 2 have to = 4? why cant we make it 7? and 3 + 9 = 12.000,000?  I mean wotz all that about?

OzZy :)

Oh Ozzy

Its like the old question which came first the Chicken or the Egg?
When you worked that one out all others fall into place.

The answer is:

It does not matter?

enjoy the things you do understand and let others worry this way you live longer.

Yo Teresa

So if the chicken laid the egg and the egg ate the chicken and the chicken got chased and eated up by the fox.. would you still be saying that it doesn't matter?  I think not :) :) :)

Ok Ozzy
If the chicken laid the egg,
the chicken could eat the egg they do sometimes.
Not the other way round?
Then  the chicken is eaten by the fox.
Yes mother nature strikes again
The fox gets ill and dies,
Because the chicken is pumped full of drugs to keep going to lay eggs
Who eats the fox?
Or are we us humans the fox?
Humans eat more chickens then foxes do in one year?
So why are foxes the bad guys?
Are we so perfect I think not.
Teresa

There are even more unanswerable questions than Ozzy's. Like Why can you never get all of the jam out of a jam jar?

Ah the answer is :D
to warm the jar and use a long handle spoon so I was told years ago ;D
Or add hot water to the jar small amount and shake then use it over a sponge pudding or icecream 8)

- going back for a second to the reluctance of some to join in - the most significant word spoken above was 'ALLOWED'.

None of us here are in a position to ALLOW anyone to do anything. I see it as a public forum where all contributions are welcome so long as they are within the limits of decency and respect. Albeit, sometimes, tongue in cheek.  We certainly don't want to resurrect accusations of 'cliquishness' that tainted the other site. - Tim

Mega, dunno where your maths teacher qualified, but try multiplying 11 by 9. It doesn`t seem to work!

...there's a way of doing a times table (but can't remember which one) by using your fingers - remember an Italian kiddie showing me - any ideas what it was, by any chance? - Lish

Mega, adding up the answer is one thing. Adding up the answer to the answer is something entirely different - it may be the way Gordon Brown works out his figures but it ain`t what you said.

Yo peeps

So ifs 9 x 11 = 9 and the egg does not eat the chicken, but the chicken does get eated up by the fox.... and humans prefer eating chickens to foxes, why is that chicken eggs are oval and not hexagonal? and if chickens had teeth, then maybe the fox wouldn't dare eat them... and if
Jam is made differently and sold in fish shops, wouldn't life be just that little bit better for us all?

Yo Ozzy

Long time no speaky!

Well as a veggie, (why else would I grow organic veggies) chickens, foxes, eggs  et al are of no interest to me.

However, jam is a different matter. Jam can be really kool.  And sophisticated.  You can accomplish a lot with the right texture jam.  At the right temperature.

Jamming, just jamming, man .....
