Help needed with a movie quiz answer

Before I go mad, does anyone know who played the character John Rambo in the Rambo film First Blood before Sylvester Stallone played him.

As far as I can remember Mr Stallone was Johnny Rambo in First Blood......

........right from the start when he walks into town and gets picked up by the "do-good" Rozzer who recognises trouble when he sees it.......

yep, Stallone was the only one. I checked the Internet Movie Database ( http://www.imdb.com) and aside from a cartoon series, no-one else played him.
