A non p.c. Christmas story
« on: December 10, 2003, 19:28:04 »
It was the last day of the Christmas term, and in the infants` school the teacher was trying her best to keep the class interested for the last hour of the school day.  "Now children," she said "Let`s tell one another what we think we will be doing on Christmas morning. What about you Bernard?". Bernard`s eyes lit up with anticipation. "Well Miss, I`ll wake up early and open my stocking and play with the things in it, then I`ll wake mummy and daddy and we`ll have breakfast, and then I`ll open all my proper presents and play with them all day." The teacher turned to Angela, "What about you Angela?" Angela replied "I`ll wake up early and open my stocking and then we`ll all have breakfast and go to church, and then we`ll come home and open all our presents". She got replies of a similar nature from all the rest of the class, until there was only little Isaac left.

"And what about you, Isaac?  I know that your religion doesn`t celebrate Christmas, so what will you do?" Isaac replied indignantly "Please miss we DO celebrate Christmas." Taken slightly aback by this the teacher asked "Well what will you do on Christmas morning then Isaac?" Isaac replied "We all get up early, and have breakfast, and then we get presents, and then we all go down to daddy`s warehouse and look at the empty shelves, and then we sing a christian hymn." "And what hymnn is that?" she asked..

"What a friend we have in Jesus" replied Isaac

Actually, Suze, a jewish friend told me that one at least 60 years ago.  If you do find a joke book in Focus or anywhere else, you may rest assured that most of the jokes in it are probably ones that I (and many others of my generation) have been telling for 50 years or more. I`ve even heard some of them trotted out on the telly.

Hugh, no offense intended.

It was just that suddenly the thought of David from the other side entered my mind ......
