Hi everyone,

I am new to this site and thought I would introduce myself.  I am a very keep gardener, but unfortunately have not got room for a vegi plot, so have grown a few vegis in pots this year with some success.  I also have a pond in my back garden so will probably be contributing to the Pond threads.  I have loads of pictures on HPphoto and if anyone is interested will post the link to them.  I must admit that I was a bit reluctant to join this site as it seemed a little complicated when I first looked in, but am getting used to it now and I recognise quite a few names so should be quite fun.......Pat

I thought that, at my age, it was far too funky.

I do look back, but my affections are now here.

Can you put the pics on the Gallery board? Like I just did again tonight. = Tim

"funky" Tim??

My goodness, you bin takin a Berlioz  ??? course?? ;D Lish

btw...you note that I haven't got an avatar...can't suss that out, even,  at all but, hey! so what!! It's Christmas!! ;D

Opps! Pat - so sorry - was too taken up by Tim's use of the Vernacular - an he boasts of being 'organic' ?? - and forgot to say...pleased you've found Dan's site.

Like many other gardening boards, it's the 'closed' season, mostly, for our patches, plotties, lotties, tubs, but the Panto will be a cracker - and swapping seeds, and ideas for new cvs for next year, and Sovereign Specifics for the back pains and aches we get while we get down to winter digging will always be welcome..Oz swears by Soans'n'Zyder, btw.. :) Lish

Hi everyone,  thanks for the great welcome.  Being a bit of an 'old fogy' I will probably take a while to get to grips with this site, but I will do my best.  Will put my pics on the Gallery.

Had a look at some of your pics Tim, my you have been busy.  Wish I had the space to do more.  Front garden is quite large but back is smaller and not really suitable for vegi plot.......Pat

Crikey :o

with all these defections there'll be noone left at the Beeb soon. It'll be deserted ;D.

To Pat and Eric:

I think we should try to keep up with G4All or claire will think we've abandoned her. Or perhaps we should try to persuade her (and Ken and Graham - have i missed anyone? :-/) to come over here and join US!  what do you think? ;)

anyway, looks like we're set for a right old time of it now were nearly all here!

Catch up soon

Good morning Richard,

Yes, I agree we should not abandon Claire's group, but there is no harm in all of us belonging to both is there.  At the moment, with the gardening season coming to an end, there is perhaps more scope for conversation ( or lunacy in some cases  :).

I must admit that after being a bit dubious about joining this site, I am quite enjoying it now.  It all looked a bit daunting at first, there is quite alot to it, but hey, I might as well join in with the crazy talk, it passes the dull winter months! ;)

Hi Pat.You will see that I have now reverted to the name i was given at birth! You were not the only one who wanted to keep my name from the Beeb board so I have re christened myself!

In reply to you about the photos. No I don't have a digital camera, but my stepson has,so,come the spring, when the ponds and garden look nice again,I will get him to take some photos so i can post them on here.Have you tried a private message yet.Would you like me to send you one so you get a feel for it?

I'm stuck in today, waiting for a delivery from Argos. Not that I would want to do much outside, what a miserable dingy day.We are going out for a meal tonight though so i am looking forward to that.Have you got all your xmas shopping done?I just have a few more to wrap.

You said you live near St Albans. Is that anywhere near Waltham Abbey,or Datchworth? I. have been tracing my family tree and some of them come from various places in Herts. As a child my mum also remembers visiting her grandparents in Cuffley.2 years ago we went for a tour round the area, ending up at Waltham Abbey, where her grandfather had a corn store/shop.It was still there,in it's original state.Getting information about my family from the internet has been the most exciting thing and the most rewarding, about getting the internet early this year.I would be truly lost without it!

Speak again soon.

Hi Margaret,

No, I haven't tried a private message yet. Wouldn't know how, although it is probably quite simple.  Just getting used to this site at the moment.  Would love to hear from you though.

Wet and miserable here today as well.  Hope you enjoy your meal tonight.  My daughter and I went out for a meal with our dog training friends (all girls) a couple of weeks ago.  The restaurant made it really Christmassy for us with crackers, party poppers and even a camera to record the evening!  Had a great time.

I live nearer to Hatfield and Potters Bar but Cuffley isn't too far away from us.   Did you see the picture of the bluebell woods we have in our village.  It is a real picture in the spring.  I took some cowslip seeds over there one year to see if they would germinate to add to the spring colour, but unfortunately they did not, perhaps the birds got to them first!, or maybe cowslips prefer growing in an open field.

Best wishes,   Pat

Hi Pat,it is dead simple.Just click on the name of the person you want to send a private message to.This gives their profile, and at the bottom, says "send this person a private message." Click on that and away you go.Then send as you would normally.

When someone sends one to you,it will show up in the right hand corner of the screen that you have a message.Click on the "1 message" and it comes up with the date, sender, subject, etc.click on subject, and there is your message.I will send you a short one now to try!!
