Cut strings...
« on: September 15, 2005, 18:31:32 »
My lottie neighbour and I have had a lot of jute strings cut. It looks like they've been cut with scissors the ends just dropped on the ground again suggesting a cut. We've been told it's foxes. Anyone else had this trouble? Or have we got a looney on the field?
I'd of thought if it was fox then they wouldn't just drop the two ends but the strings would be thrown about the plot. If they were running through the plot then the canes would of lifted before the string broke.

No - they run into string/jute/whatever and are held up, so they bite through if they can. Squirrels also do this.

I'd vote foxes too, they seem to be able to bite through pretty thick ropes on our site!!

How strange, I have ⅛th of an inch thick bright yellow nylon rope around my boarder line and every time I visit my plot it is cut along one side, can't blame my neighbour as I do not have one yet.

I thought it may be rabbits, it is definitely chewed and not cut as it has  frayed edges. ::)

Used to watch the fox doing just that to sting on our old allotment in Sutton.

Did Sting enjoy it? Is it some sort of tantric sex excersise?

I had string (baling twine) to divide up my square foot bed. One day there was a hole dug in it and the strings were all neatly "cut". I reckon it must've been a fox. (Although I did worry for a while that I had vandals in my garden!)
gone to pot :D
