I have lots of gardening related books on my Christmas list and I also want a purple trug, like those on Gardeners World. But if I could have absolutely anything, apart from world peace and good health for me and my family of course, then I would like our own personal driver with a van who could take us to all the local Garden Centres and Nurseries that we don't have access to, since we don't have a car.

So sorry to hear about your break-in  Jethro. It is so rotton isn't it when things like this happen and you have had your fair share this year. Lets hope next year is better!  :)  busy_lizzie

Hi again! Just read Margarets' posting and wanted to pass on my good wishes and hopes that things work out on the job front for her husband. It is a worrying time when you don't have a job, but especially at Christmas when the emphasis is on jollity and having a good time.  I know it is hard getting in the mood when your circumstances are uncertain.

Even though it is risky giving up your job, I am sure it will be well worth it for his emotional well being not to have to go through that stress everyday which sooner or later would affect his health.  Who knows what great opportunities are around the corner for him in the New Year.  He has opened a door for better things to happen in his life, and with a bit of luck and positive thought they will.   All the Best. :)  busy_lizzie

I too noticed how we allotmentiers all asked for practical things.I also noticed quite a lot of similar characteristics in the thread we did on profiles.Perhaps iwe should do one on our star signs to see if any one sign is dominant.Mine is Taurus.

And mine is Aires  :o

Whaddya mean I'm bossy ...........  ::)

And note to Margaret.  My cousin gave up his office job due to stress and decided to do what he had always wanted to do.  Become a gardener.  He advertised in the paper and got a few jobs (he is very knowledgeable and proficient, understands grafting and all that stuff).

He was recommended by word of mouth, and now ten years down the line employs 5 people!!

Best wishes.

For Christmas I would like:

A full time gardener with long curly hair and Byronesque looks clad in moleskin trousers and a fine linen shirt and his own potting shed ....... complete with personalised dibber  ::)

And a flatscreen monitor on a purely practical level  :D

Hi Margaret,

Just read your post and I think your husband did the right thing too but I know how worried you'll be until he finds something else. I just wanted to send you both my best wishes in the hope that he will soon have a job that he will enjoy more than his last one. Try to keep your chin up and have a good Christmas. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both!

Hey Sue, I just looked at the latest postings & wondered who 'suet' was ??? ;D

Looking forward to you contributing to the sometime 'useless but fascinating snippets' thread which Eric occasionally posts ::) - Lishka
